Introduction to Art II
Sketchbook Assignments - List 2

Due Date Media Assignment
Use Color Design and illustrate a new fashion.  Show the contour of the figure.
Multi Choose three related items (i.e. three different tools, pieces of fruit, etc.).  Draw each of the three items using a different medium (pencil, ink, color).  The items should overlap each other to show depth in the picture.
Use Pencil Arrange 8 to 10 bottles, jars and glasses of various sizes on a shelf.  Make sure that the objects overlap.  Do not completely hide any of the objects.  A few of them should be clear.  A few should be opaque.  Draw them lightly in pencil.  Gradually add value to the objects.  Remember that value means levels of light or dark.  Continue to build up value on the objects.  There should be at least 5 values used to create this drawing.
Use Ink Draw a toothbrush and tube of toothpaste.  You may draw in pencil first and then ink over.  ERASE ALL PENCIL after inking.  Use pointillism to shade the finished work.
4/14 Use Pencil Draw a pair of glasses or sunglasses under strong light.  There should be a very dark shadow and very bright highlights created by the light.
4/21 Multi Draw a collection of small office supplies and objects (paperclips, thumbtacks, keys, etc.).  Put the objects in your hand and drop them from about 4-5".  Draw the objects where they land.  Choose one of the objects and add color to make it prominent.
4/29 Use Pencil Draw a table lamp.  Begin with the contours then add shading where appropriate.  Pay special attention to textures and any perspective in the drawing.
5/5 Use Ink Draw a detailed portrait of a friend.  You may draw the original in pencil and then ink over.  ERASE ALL PENCIL after inking.  There should be definite highlights and shadows.  Follow the guidelines for constructing a face.  (Half the width of the face us equal to one-third the height.  Eyes are in the center of the face.  Space between eyes is the same width as an eye.  Bottom of nose is half way between eyes and chin.  Bottom of mouth is halfway between bottom of nose and chin.  Length and position of ear is between top of eyes and bottom of nose.  Face is 4 eyes wide.)

All Sketchbook Assignments require the following:

1. Draw large enough to fill the work space.  There should be little white unless called for by the
assignment.
 2. Show plenty of detail and all appropriate shading.
 3. This is homework!  Do it at home!  It should take a MINIMUM of ONE (1) HOUR.
