WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH THE BOOK REPORTS?

ENGLISH II

MRS. THOMPSON

• One book report per quarter.
• If your last name begins with the letters A-F you will be reporting on a book from a list of classics that Mrs. Thompson will provide for your first quarter book report.
• If your last name begins with the letters G-L you will be reporting on a book from a list of classics that Mrs. Thompson will provide for your second quarter book report.
• If your last name begins with the letters M-R you will be reporting on a book from a list of classics that Mrs. Thompson will provide for your third quarter book report.
• If your last name begins with the letters S-Z you will be reporting on a book from a list of classics that Mrs. Thompson will provide for your fourth quarter book report.
• When you are not reading/reporting on a designated classic you may read a book of your own choosing as long as it meets the following criteria:

1.      minimum of 150 pages in length

2.      Mrs. Thompson has looked it over and given approval

3.      you have not read it before

4.      it is appropriately challenging

The following are books you may NOT read for your book report:

1.      Harry Potter (any and all)

2.      Lord of the Rings (any and all)

3.      Catcher in the Rye

4.      The Great Gatsby

5.      Black Like Me

6.      Hard Times

7.      Slaughterhouse Five

8.      The Old Man In The Sea

9.      The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

10.  The Pearl

11.  Hound Of The Baskervilles

12.  Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (any and all)
