Alleman High School - Activities - WYSE
Activities: WYSE:

Worldwide Youth in Science & Engineering referred to as WYSE is a program run by the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Campaign that spark an interest in today's high school students about science and engineering. Through summer  programs and academic competitions, WYSE exposes students to both the academic and career aspects of becoming an engineer.

The Academic challenge is a battery of tests that are created by WYSE and offered to high school students throughout the nation. Subjects tested include: mathematics, English, chemistry, physics, biology, engineering graphics and computer science.

Forty-five colleges and universities around the state offer the tests. The tests are designed to present a challenge to the brightest students and are written by university faculty. They are presented in multiple-choice format. The student has 40 minutes to complete tests that range in length from 100 questions (English) to 30 questions (Computer Science).
