New Introduction to Engineering Design Course is a Success
This year Alleman introduced a new course: Introduction to Engineering Design, taught by Father Peter Hasiakos.
This course offers students a comprehensive introduction to the engineering profession. Classroom discussions and presentations provide insight into different opportunities within the field of engineering. A key focus of the course is communication - including the written, visual, and verbal skills engineers use to convey design ideas. General concepts of the design process and problem solving are also studied.
“This year’s Intro to Engineering course was a wonderful opportunity for the students to learn about the field of engineering and its value in the modern world,” shared Fr. Hasiakos. “Throughout the semester, the students researched topics of interest and presented to one another, and we also had the privilege of a series of guest lectures about projects being worked on by the US Army Corps of Engineers - Rock Island District. We learned a lot and had great discussions!”
