Pat Lootens Inducted into Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame

For more than four decades, Pat Lootens ’74 has been a fixture on the sidelines, in the gymnasium, and in the lives of countless student-athletes throughout the Quad Cities. This year, his dedication to the game and to the young people he has mentored was recognized with one of Illinois basketball’s highest honors — induction into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Hall of Fame. The IBCA Hall of Fame was established in 1973 to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to basketball in Illinois. 

Coach Lootens has been a familiar and respected presence within the Alleman Catholic High School athletic community for many years. His service to the school has included being an assistant boys’ basketball coach from 1993 to 2004 and 2011 to 2026 as well as serving as the boy’s head golf coach in 2025 to current. 

Colleagues and former players often describe Lootens as a coach who genuinely cared about the people he coached. His ability to build relationships, encourage confidence, and hold athletes to high standards left a lasting impression on those who passed through his programs.
